Another star emerges
In what has been a whirlwind 12 months for Deep Woods Estate, yet another star has emerged from the portfolio. Late last week, the 2015 Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Merlot was awarded a trophy and gold medal at the National Wine Show of Australia and another gold medal at the Royal Hobart Wine Show. This brings the total for the 2015 wine to six Trophies and seven Gold Medals and caps off a remarkable run of success for the wine.
The National Wine Show of Australia is an invite-only wine competition held in Canberra each November and is considered by many to provide a ‘best of the best’ snapshot of the Australian Wine Industry. Wineries are only invited to submit a wine upon receipt of a trophy at one of the capital city wine shows in the preceding 12 months.
Deep Woods Estate Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy was understandably wrapt with the result. “It’s always both exciting and humbling to be awarded a trophy at a major wine show, even more so at the National Wine Show. The Cabernet Sauvignon program at Deep Woods continues to shine and the success of this wine validates our firm belief that the Yallingup sub-region of Margaret River produces the best Cabernet in Australia”
The Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Merlot is no stranger to awards, the 2014 vintage was awarded two trophies and four gold medals and the 2013 vintage was awarded three gold medals.
